A Respectful Dog Is Fantastic!

The amount of training your dog needs is dependent upon what you are needing. If you are wanting to enter your dog in shows, of course, he will require much more preparation than if you are only wanting a disciplined and dutiful member of your family. Training requirements also contrast with breed, age and disposition.

A large number of times there are still difficulties because your dog doesn’t seem to cooperate and you can’t understand just what the dog is trying to tell you and your dog can’t comprehend exactly what it is that you would like. At this point you may be tempted to bring in an a professional dog trainer but expert dog trainers can be very pricey. Fortunately, with just a minor bit of advice and knowledge you can turn into the most excellent trainer for your own dog.

Housetraining is typically the number one priority for a good number of families when they get a new puppy. Very few puppies will be housetrained as soon as you get them. There are two very useful methods you can use to housetrain your puppy and you can use just one of them or you can even use them simultaneously.

The first way to train your puppy is to be very alert and watch his conduct. Puppies will hunker down to urinate and defecate. You must watch your puppy very closely and as soon as he starts to change his posture then scoop him up and take him to his chosen spot. If you happen to fail to spot the sign and he has an mistake, you should never rebuke him as he is still just learning and he does not know what is expected of him yet. Reprimanding him will just scare him unnecessarily.

Also, if you do fail to spot the sign and you come across it later, it will only scare your puppy if you scold him then. Dogs are not like humans and they can only relate to what is happening now. If you scold him later on for a potty accident he will not understand that is why he is in trouble. He can only appreciate if you scold him for something instantly.  Read more...

You no doubt know aggressive dogs can be quite scary. They can scare small children and adults alike. There are some breeds that are more likely to be aggressive but even so there is usually an underlying cause for aggression in dogs and finding out why your dog is aggressive can help you in your training efforts. A dog that is calm in most circumstances is an easier dog to own.

Sometimes excessive aggression is because your dog wants to establish dominance. Dogs are pack animals and there is always a pecking order to the pack. The alpha dog is the ring leader and the other dogs follow suit. Proper training will make you the alpha dog or the leader. Never allow your dog to think of himself as the alpha dog or you will continuouslyhave problems. “Back To School” is perhaps the most dreaded three word phrase in the English language for the majority of young people enjoying the last few days of summer. But for merchants and companies which cater to the student market, those three magic words are worth their weight in gold.

However, for many parents those words can produce mixed feelings, some look forward with guilty relief to having all that free time when they don’t have to worry about their children; while other parents are worried about outfitting and supplying their little geniuses with the necessary tools to make sure they’re not disadvantaged when it comes to learning.

In our computer obsessed world, one major part of that equation is making sure your school age child or even your college off-spring has a good quality laptop or netbook. More and more students are using these handy gadgets to great advantage to further their education. So much so, that many students, regardless of age, would feel lost in the classroom without a portable laptop computer of some kind.  Read more...
