You go to a relative’s house to open gifts and you receive a Christmas gift basket full of inedible things including big logs of meat and rubbery cheese. It is enough to turn you off the idea of giving a gift basket after you have received a cheap Christmas gift basket such as this. But don’t give up on the idea entirely. There are lots of ideas for homemade holiday gift baskets that will be sure to please your friends and loved ones this Christmas season.

If you are willing to think creatively, the old idea of a Christmas gift basket can be re-created into a quality gift that anyone can enjoy. The best thing to do is stay away from the old staples such as summer sausage and fruit cake and move your thinking outside the box.

One very popular choice is to make a chocolate gift basket. Fill a picnic hamper with different kinds of chocolate: chocolate bars, cocoa, mocha coffee, and Hershey kisses.
